        In recent years, with the rapid development of new energy vehicles and the continuous upgrading of automotive intelligence, automotive camera modules have been increasingly applied in various vehicle models, presenting enormous market prospects. Autonomous driving has raised higher requirements for active safety functions such as vehicle safety, pedestrian safety, driver monitoring, and passenger safety monitoring, resulting in more stringent performance demands for automotive camera modules. As a professional intelligent imaging manufacturer, SUNWIN has ushered in an opportunity for rapid development.

      SUNWIN established the Intelligent Automotive Imaging Business Division in 2017 and subsequently founded Hubei SUNWIN Intelligent Automotive Optoelectronics Technology Co., Ltd. for independent operation, adhering to independent R&D and technological innovation. It has successively independently developed high-definition automotive camera module products such as OMS, DMS, DVR, RVC, SVC, and AVM, which have smoothly achieved mass production after obtaining pre-installation designations from multiple original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).

      To seize opportunities and occupy the market, SUNWIN introduced China’s most advanced fully automatic AA (Active Alignment) production lines for automotive camera modules. In order to better prevent and control particle generation and improve product first-pass yield, the company built China’s first fully automatic AA assembly and testing production line for automotive camera modules located in a Class 100 cleanroom, redefining the production of automotive camera modules in Class 100 cleanrooms.

        SUNWIN’s substantial investment in automated production lines aims to meet the needs of more customer orders, expand production capacity, enhance product reliability and consistency, serve more domestic and foreign OEMs, and lay a solid foundation for higher product quality.

        This fully automatic production line can realize the assembly and testing processes of fully compatible automotive camera module products with high-definition pixels ranging from 1M to 8M, all controlled automatically by equipment. The annual production capacity can reach approximately 800,000 sets, greatly meeting production needs.
        The entire automatic production line includes equipment for precision locking, automatic loading and unloading, high-precision AA auto-focusing, automatic transfer, high-temperature curing, airtightness testing, functional testing, high and low-temperature cycle aging, laser welding, parameter calibration, etc. All equipment on the automatic line is connected through communication, enabling fully automatic production, assembly, and testing. It can also use individual machines for related operations. All working machines are integrated with the full-process MES (Manufacturing Execution System) to achieve full-process recording and traceability, ensuring product quality. Meanwhile, the production line supports quick tooling fixture replacement with advanced error-proof design—fixtures are distinguished by identification codes and equipped with error-proof and collision-proof features to prevent incorrect fixture replacement and collision damage with equipment. Data from product production and testing on the line equipment can be saved locally in real time, exported, or uploaded to MES (single-machine upload). The line equipment also supports the production of products with other specifications.

Fully Automatic AA Focusing Equipment

        As a star device of the entire automatic production line, the fully automatic AA focusing machine is a major highlight. It is well known that the lens assembly of automotive camera modules requires high-precision AA technology: the relative position between the lens and the CMOS (Complementary Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor) image sensor can be freely adjusted, real-time image data is collected and analyzed, the horizontal position and lens tilt angle are adjusted to ensure image clarity, and the optical axis and image plane focus are centered on the image. With the improvement of the resolution of automotive camera modules, the requirement for positioning accuracy between the lens and CMOS continues to rise. The AA focusing equipment on this production line adopts mature AA focusing technology, effectively correcting errors caused by the assembly of various components of the camera module, ensuring the imaging quality and product consistency of the camera module, and significantly improving product yield.

        As the core equipment of the automatic production line, this fully automatic AA focusing machine can support various types of camera module products, with a maximum support for 8-megapixel auto-focusing. It can quickly adjust the collimator angle and parallel chart distance to achieve rapid product changeover. The flat chart supports 1, 5, and 9 targets, with height automatically adjusted by servo motors and an adjustment accuracy of ±0.2mm. Dual-channel parallel operation improves production throughput.

      Currently, SUNWIN’s Intelligent Automotive Imaging Company has established production factories for automotive imaging camera module products in Xianning and Tongcheng, Hubei. It independently produces and controls the entire process from SMT (Surface Mount Technology) to AA fully automatic focusing, assembly, and testing, and has established an Intelligent Automotive Imaging Optoelectronics Research Institute in Wuhan. The introduction of this key asset—the fully automatic AA production line for automotive camera modules—indicates that SUNWIN’s intelligent automotive business segment is steadily advancing in accordance with the group’s medium and long-term strategic planning and continuously realizing the company’s strategic development blueprint as expected.
